Artist's Description
The burning of the Zozobra takes place once a year in Santa Fe, New Mexico. It is usually held the Friday before Labor Day at the beginning of Fiestas de Santa Fe, where "Old Man Gloom" is said to remove your worries via his burning in a large bonfire. People will write down the things in their lives which trouble them, and put them into boxes placed in various locations around the site, and just before the burning ceremony starts, the boxes are placed at Zozobra's feet, to be consumed by the flames. During the show, dances will perform, loud music is played, and Zozobra, Old Man Gloom, moves his head and arms, and emanates loud groans for us all, as he takes away our worries and troubles for another year!
About Tamara Kulish
Welcome to my art and photos! I am an artist, an author of 'How to Heal Your Life on a Deep Heart Level' and 'Developing Happiness When You Can't Find It', a blogger, a photographer and a life voyager. Taking photos became one of my guilty pleasures, and many times I would stop and take a photo of something which held absolutely no interest for anyone around me, and even prompted some to ask, 'Why are you taking a picture of that?' Once the photos were paired with a quote they could understand a little better what had captivated me!
